The Ontario Legal Information Centre (our Centre) provides bilingual legal information and referral services to anyone in Ontario with a legal problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Legal Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Free 30-minute virtual meeting with a lawyer to any person faced with a legal issue in Ontario; without any eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free legal information workshops, online or in person, throughout the year on many legal topics and legal fields. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good to know: <\/strong>Whether in the form of a one-on-one appointment or in a group legal information session, our Centre\u2019s mandate is to provide you with general explanations of the law as well as to help you understand your legal issues and the possible ways to resolve them. However, the Centre does not offer legal advice or representation services.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Referrals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Referrals to local organizations and resources that could help you further resolve your issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good to know:<\/strong> Our Centre\u2019s services are confidential and offered virtually, in French and in English. There are no admissibility criteria and questions can involve any legal field in Ontario. A person can use the services more than once as long when they have new legal questions.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Project Lead<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since 1981, l\u2019Association des juristes d\u2019expression fran\u00e7aise de l\u2019Ontario (AJEFO) has been dedicated to improving equal access to justice in French in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AJEFO provides the public with the information and tools they need to improve their knowledge of the legal system and their ability to exercise their rights in French.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AJEFO opened our Centre on January 15, 2015. Our Centre\u2019s goal is to improve access to justice and better the relationship between the public and the Ontario legal system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our Centre was created thanks to the financial contribution of the Department of Justice of Canada as part of the Action Plan for Official Languages 22023-2028 : Protection-Promotion-Collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AJEFO also thanks the financial contribution of the Law Foundation of Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confidentiality and Statistical Data<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our Centre is a non-profit initiative made possible through the financial contribution of the Department of Justice of Canada and the Law Foundation of Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to continue receiving funding and thus provide its services free of charge to the population of Ontario, our Centre must disclose some statistical data to its funders. It is important to note that all data collected by our Centre is completely depersonalized before being shared, and the legal information related to your case (for instance \u2013 facts or legal questions) remain entirely confidential. An example of data that could be shared is \u201cof the individuals using our services, 55% are women and 15% are from Northern Ontario.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pursuant to the above, to have a free 30-minute meeting with our Centre, you will need to complete our short and simple intake form which will be sent to you prior to your meeting. This form is required to have access to our services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
